Financial Planning

    We pride ourselves on providing bespoke financial advice that meets your specific needs and objectives, and reflects your attitude to investment risk. That’s why each individual portfolio we create is unique.

    While each portfolio is different, the process we use to create them never changes. That’s because each and every portfolio we work on is built around the same fundamental principles having emerged through a strict construction process.

    As the industry has evolved, a trend has emerged whereby many independent financial advice firms delegate the management of the underlying investment portfolios to external providers. This comes at a cost that is usually passed onto you, the client.

    At Simpson Wood we opted not to follow that path, instead enlisting the expertise of professional investment analysts to assist and advise our own investment committee on a quarterly basis. The analysis they provide helps to shape our overall asset allocations and fund selections, and is pivotal to the creation of new portfolios and our ongoing review process.

    This approach to portfolio management allows us to offer a robust and pro-active service, and we cover the costs of this activity rather than passing it onto our clients.

    Our process

    Fundamental to the way we work is the recognition that no two clients are the same, underpinning our commitment to providing tailored advice.

    To ensure the advice we provide meets the exact needs of each client we serve, we ensure that:

    • we establish a full understanding of your current situation and plans for the future, including your attitude to investment risk;
    • we consider and prioritise your requirements for protection (life assurance, critical illness and disability concerns), savings and investments, and retirement planning;
    • we devise a plan to help you achieve your goals;
    • we research and review the market to select the most appropriate products and investments for your circumstances and requirements;
    • we pay close attention to the treatment of products in order to maximise efficiency;
    • we present our recommendations to you in clear terms, explaining the benefits and the costs in clear, understandable language;
    • we review the recommendations with you and only once we have your agreement do we implement arrangements on your behalf.

    Our advice doesn’t end there. We review and monitor your arrangements and circumstances into the future, making recommendations to ensure that the overall financial plan remains in alignment with your strategy and in service of your goals.

    The knowledgeable and friendly staff at Simpson Wood continue to offer expert advice for the smooth running of our company accounts. They are efficient, competent and reliable – a professional firm providing a professional service, tailored to our needs. Long may it continue!
