    Our In the Spotlight series lets you get to know some of our team better. That might be their hobbies, favourite book or what they would take to a desert island with them. This time we’re talking to Marianne who is our Practice manager who is celebrating her 22nd work anniversary with us!

    Q: What is your role at SW and how did you get into a career in the said job role?
    A: Practice Manager.

    I joined SW in 2001 as the secretary to Senior Partner. The company expanded and diversified, and so did my role.
    Q: If applicable what did you do before SW?
    A: Worked 20 years for Halifax plc as cashier, assistant branch manager and for last 10 years, an internal auditor
    Q: What are we likely to find you doing on a day-to-day basis?
    A: Client onboarding
    Changing or inputting software data
    Taking care of cleaners and cleaning issues
    Managing any property/utility repairs/matters
    Overseeing reception and morning mail
    Q: What kind of problem might you solve on a typical day / week?
    A: I don’t ever have a typical day/week.
    Problems can range from the lift not working, rates bill correctly applied, water machine not dispensing cold water, fire regulations are adhered to.
    Q: What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
    A: Being involved in the growth and development of SW.  Interaction with clients and colleagues.
    Q: Tell us what makes SW different…
    A: We care about our staff and our clients.
    We take time to understand our clients’ needs and have the skills and resources to offer the best financial advice and support, all under the same roof.
    Q: What three words do you think (hope!) your colleagues would use to describe you?
    A: Better than yesterday
    Q: What are we most likely to find you doing when you’re not at work?/hobbies?
    A: Cooking
    At a gym class
    Long distance road cycling
    Playing with grandchildren
    Socialising with friends
    Q: What’s your favourite spot in Yorkshire and why?
    A: Anywhere in the Yorkshire Dales.
    Beautiful, peaceful, invigorating and relaxing.
    Q: What’s your party trick?
    A: I don’t have one; managing to stay until the end of the party would be good though.
    Q: Favourite chocolate/sweet/food etc?
    A: Crisps

    A: The Remains of the Day –  Kazuo Ishiguro
